Gratitude and Service:
Secrets of Rapid Spiritual Development
By  Master Stephen Co

Pranic Healers with highly developed visual awareness can see that people with the proper “attitude of gratitude” have clean, balanced chakras. This is the ideal proportion, for it means that the upper chakras, which control our higher or more spiritual impulses, are governing our lower chakras, which control our lower or more worldly impulses.

Our higher impulses include characteristics such as loving-kindness, generosity, unselfishness, mercy, and wisdom. We employ these traits outwardly, toward other people, to create good in the world. Our lower impulses include self-preservation, desire for prosperity, and success. We employ these traits to create good for ourselves.

This doesn’t mean it is wrong to desire to do good for ourselves. We do need to take care of ourselves. It is just that these desires need to be tempered by higher impulses such as wisdom, mercy, and loving-kindness. Otherwise, they lead to selfishness.

People who are less spiritually developed frequently hold the belief that this energy is theirs to use primarily for themselves. They feel no sense of gratitude for this gift of prana and are selfish, prideful, or arrogant. Their chakras are dirty and unbalanced, with lower chakras substantially larger than upper chakras. Their aura’s energy is also more gross and less refined.

An attitude of humility and gratitude for the gift of this divine spiritual energy increases your body’s ability to assimilate prana. An attitude of excessive pride or selfishness and an inability to attribute the energy properly to its source reduces your ability to absorb prana, thereby shrinking your energy field, further evidence of the toxicity of negative emotions.

True Gratitude manifests as the strong urge to serve others. One very good way to offer service is to perform healings on other people. This is also a form of service that can benefit you directly and quickly, for when you perform Pranic Healing on someone else’s physical ailments, you often experience healing yourself.

There are two reasons for this:  First, the pranic energy you draw in passes through your energetic anatomy and has a cleansing and energizing effect on you. Second, you build up good karma with your service to another person in need. So, in healing others, you may find yourself healed, too.

Taoist sages explained that nature is governed by a law of cycles. These cycles manifest in the world in such dual-faceted principles as light and dark, inhaling and exhaling, drawing in energy and putting forth energy, and giving and receiving. Each of the two elements in the pair is defined in relation to its opposite, and both are necessary for balance or equilibrium in the world. When there is an imbalance — too much or not enough of one or the other —this law is broken, and it creates a problem that nature will correct.

Thus, if someone wants only to take and receive but not give, eventually nature will see to it that the person is unable to receive. Alternatively, if someone wants always to give but never to receive — the person is unable to accept graciously — eventually nature will see to it that the person is unable to give. To be properly balanced and in harmony with natural law, we must be able to give and receive.

Giving or providing service, whether you are offering love, time, money, or talent, creates a vacuum enabling you to receive more of what you gave. Receiving graciously, in turn, replenishes you and enables you to give even more. Service is part of the natural cycle of the universe and an important part of your physical, psychological, spiritual, and even financial health. The principle of service is summarized perfectly in the simple phrase, “As you give, so shall you receive.”
