Four Steps to Ultimate Freedom
The Course in Miracles Perspective
By Dr. Juliet Tien (Dr. J), D. N. Sc.
Are you huffing and puffing to get what you need, want, and desire? If so, please read on. According to the Course in Miracles perspective, the following are four essential steps toward reaching a state of ultimate freedom from physical ailments, emotional disturbances, spiritual imbalance and financial constraints. These four steps have been “tested” and practiced by many of my clients and myself for years, with endless miracles as a result.
STEP 1: GENEROSITY
We do not own anything, not even our bodies. Our bodies are “rental
properties” that we have to give up when we leave a given life. Since
we
don’t own anything, we might as well be generous! The golden rule,
“What
goes around, comes around,” never fails. Therefore, if you want more
money, give money; if you want more time, give time; if you want more
love, give love.
Some people consider themselves generous through giving sporadically. In order to receive constantly, you must give with commitment and discipline. It is like a pipeline. If you want resources continuously pouring out from one end, you must consistently feed resources into the other. The secret of continuing abundance is very simple: tithing! Give at least ten (10) percent of your income to your favorite charity and/or people who facilitate your awakening. Ten percent before taxes, not after; before paying your bills, not after! God (the universe) takes this 10% to do work for you to bring you prosperity. If you bargain with God, you shortchange yourself! Treat this as a “research project,” if you will, for at least six months, and see your fear of scarcity vanish!
STEP 2: CHOOSING PEACE
CONSCIOUSLY
When you remain peaceful, you can think more clearly and act more
appropriately. When you are upset, you may say things or do things that
you will regret later. Every time you find yourself emotionally
disturbed, ask yourself: “Does it have to be this way? Is there a
better
way to handle this?” Once you ask these crucial questions, solutions
will come to you from the divine source. The best way to train yourself
to choose peace consciously is through meditation. Meditate every day.
The best times to meditate are in the morning after you wake, and in
the
evening before you go to bed. If you can meditate during both these
times, you will soon see tremendous results. If you are too busy, or
too
lazy, or both, just start with a ten-minute meditation as described in
my book, “Breaking the Yeast Curse: Food and Conditional Love for Magic
Healing” (available in public libraries).
Most people tend to think too much. Their minds contain constant traffic, like the Ventura Freeway or San Diego Freeway! Unfortunately, what is on their minds are usually worries, fears, guilt, anger or resentment. All these negative emotions make them emotionally fatigued and physically ill. All physical symptoms are reflections of emotional and spiritual states. When you can train yourself to choose peace consciously, you will free yourself from all kinds of physical and emotional ailments.
STEP 3: BEING VIGILANT
AGAINST EGO
Human beings tend to think and act based on the ego function. What is
ego? Ego is conditioned misbelief. Ego is a liar. Ego is not capable of
telling the truth. Thus, your thinking and behavior tend to base
themselves on illusions. Illusions cause you to get stuck in negative
emotions such as fear, anger, resentment, guilt and regret. The longer
you are stuck in these negative emotions, the more physical and
emotional symptoms you will experience. Your ego is also competitive
rather than loving. It always likes to strike a bargain. To bargain is
to limit giving. When you limit your giving, you limit your receiving!
Your ego’s enemies are peace and love. Your ego will do its very best to ensure an ongoing war between truth and illusion. If you allow your ego to take charge, you will not have clear vision. It is like looking at a picture under dim light. When your attention is attracted to the elaborate frame created by your ego, you will not be able to see the simple and plain picture, the truth. Under dim light, blood can be mistaken for shining rubies, and tears can be mistaken for glittering diamonds. Only when you turn the light on, will you see the real picture!
Your vigilance against ego does not require effort if you have faith in your higher self and in God (the universe). You will not experience a real sense of well-being while you are doubtful of what you are. Be aware that God or your higher self is your best partner in getting what you need, want, and desire — not your ego or your lower self. Once you can command your ego to take a vacation, you will have clarity and creativity, and thus, peace and love.
STEP 4: GOING
WITH THE FLOW
When you are able to practice steps one through three consistently and
vigilantly, then just go with the flow. Love, peace, prosperity and joy
will come to you naturally. You will find that you do not have to make
decisions, and yet everything works out perfectly. In this state, you
communicate fully with God (the universe), and vice versa. This is an
ongoing process in which you are inspired to create like God. You will
also teach what you have learned, and with every lesson you teach, you
will be learning. You will teach only love and peace, and relinquish
all
attacks. You will be in alignment with light. Consequently, the
darkness
created by fear, anger and guilt will vanish. You will be able to
discern truth from illusion. You will also learn that the truth will
set
you free, and will keep you free as you continuously practice the four
steps outlined above.
Please note: Some people may feel more comfortable relating to Jesus, Buddha, Mohammed, or Bahá u’lláh, than to “God.” As long as you can connect with a supernatural power, language is irrelevant.
