Do You Want to Own Your Life?
By Chitra Gunderson

“Have you ever thought of what it would be like to ‘Own Your Life’?” …“But, I thought I already owned my life,” I said to myself. Then, as the seminar I attended last weekend continued, clarity started coming to me.

It’s true! When I subtract out the sleeping time, commuting time, working time and time for things I have to do each and everyday of my life, I don’t have more than one or two hours each day to do what I like to do… and then, I don’t always have enough money to do it!

For me, owning my life would mean… being able to do what I want, when I want; having plenty of money to support my lifestyle, interests and savings; having the time and money to travel several months of each year; ultimately, being free from a nine-to-five job.

It all boils down to Money… Money… Money… that green paper that makes the world go around. I can’t seem to get enough of it or live without it. So what is money anyway?

John Easterling, Founder and CEO of Amazon Herb Company, puts it into perspective, “Money is a tool that allows us to express ourselves at our highest potential, to support the people we love, and to contribute to causes we believe in.”

He explained further, “There are two types of consciousness around money: Prosperity consciousness and poverty consciousness. Prosperity-conscious people come from a place of love, contribution, positive attitude, responsibility for their lives and have a take-action attitude. Poverty-conscious people are stuck in fear, greed, negative attitude, and victim mentality — they do not assume any responsibility for their lives.”

“You need to first change the way you think about money because your thoughts lead to your actions that lead to results,” says Robert Kiyosaki, New York Times best-selling author.

Okay, I’m starting to get it… how we think about money is the key in our journey to becoming prosperous and owning our life. So… Is having a business of my own the only way to create prosperity and escape working for someone else?

Having your own business is important, but which one you choose makes a big difference in how quickly you are successful in Owning Your Life. “A great business will have a strong mission, great leadership, a competent team… and of course, a great product,” explains Robert Kiyosaki.

There are three different vehicles for the entrepreneur to choose from. You can start a  business from scratch which takes a long time and is a costly process; Buy a franchise — most cost around $500,000 to get started; or Join a Referral Marketing company — most are low cost to start — only $300-$500, and they provide training and a team of people eager to help you succeed in your business.

Robert Kiyosaki explained further, “The size of your success (as an entrepreneur) is measured by the strength of your desire; the size of your dream; and how you handle disappointment along the way (your attitude).”

So… “What is your dream?  Is it big enough to attract money into your life? Business is a vehicle to create the resources that will fulfill your dreams. You become a facilitator for money to flow through you. When you are clear where the money is going, the universe sends it.

It is important to get clear. Develop your “why,” make sure you know what your goals are and where you are going. The bolder your goal is, the more power it has. As long as it is matched with an unshakable belief system and commitment, then things will start happening, the right people will come into your life,” explains John Easterling.

Entrepreneurs in prosperity consciousness have a ‘can do’ attitude that will carry them through the difficult times. “The entrepreneurial traits of Commitment, Vision, Positive Attitude, Take action, Resourceful, Persevere, Patience, and Courage are all based on attitude… No college degree is required! Your Attitude Will Determine Your Altitude,” continues John Easterling.

“Along with an unshakable and unstoppable belief system: Belief in yourself and others; belief in the products and company; and belief in network marketing.”

Robert Kiyosaki explains, “One of the reasons I consider a network marketing business a perfect business is simply because the company will work with you to get the business skills to make the money that will make you rich.

The other reason is low start-up costs. Where else can you invest $300-500 and start your own business? That is one of the beauties of network marketing… you can move into owning your own business at a very low cost.”

Kosa Ely says, “I started my network marketing business seven years ago on a shoestring budget. With a family of four to support I didn’t have an option to fail. I successfully developed my business until I had a steady income. Last November I decided to take my family on a three-month vacation to New Zealand and Australia. While we were away my checks kept rolling in!”

So, with prosperity-conscious attitude, a big enough dream, and an unshakable belief system you can be successful creating a network marketing business. Then, you will be able to live your life the way you want: have more quality time to spend with your family; have the time and money to take vacations; and make solid plans for the future.
