The Angel of Rain
By Audrey Hope

You look around to find an angel
in the sun,
in the drama of the light of day.
But, you try harder in the rain.
A heart that cries has tears to lift the eyes.

We need the storm.
Wings grow in the love you wish for others.
The prayer — that no one sleeps hungry,
The hope — that no one wakes up afraid.

In your dreams for the best of God’s world, there lives the angel heart.
Thunder bursts light to awaken the highest self,
Hurricane winds to shake the soul.

Welcome the new angels of 2006.
The angels of cleansing,
The angels of healing,
The angels of rain.
In sacred waters, we can rebuild a new universe with new people,
Holding together, finally, an umbrella of love.

To see the angels,
Look in the mirror.
The invisible wings have been resting on our shoulders.
You — angel — you.
And me.
And after the rain — the sun, and Light enough for all!
