ASK REV. SANDY & KIRK
By Rev. Sandy Moore and Rev. Kirk Moore

Rev. Sandy Moore and Rev. Kirk Moore are co-founders of the Center for Universal Truth in San Juan Capistrano. They established this New Thought spiritual community to bring together individuals of various religious and spiritual faiths so their lives could be empowered and enlightened by applying practical spiritual principles. Rev. Sandy’s Sunday morning message is one of hope, love and healing. The celebration services are filled with music provided by Rev. Kirk Moore.
“Ask Rev. Sandy and Rev. Kirk” is a column developed to allow people an opportunity to seek additional answers about spiritual and religious insights. These are a few of the most recent questions received.

This is a broad question, but what is the meaning of life?

This, of course, is a broad question and probably has many answers for many people. However, in general, we each have our own unique meaning to life, and for many of us we spend a lifetime searching for that meaning. I believe that it is up to each of us to determine for ourselves what our own meaning and purpose is in this lifetime. We can find meaning in every day and every action we’re involved in. We believe our life unfolds in a divine order, not that we don’t experience challenges — because we do, but that everything happens for a reason which ultimately propels us to the next level of our development. It is my belief that we are here to grow and evolve through all our experiences and attain a higher consciousness in the process, thus bringing us closer to God or a Higher Power. We are here to know that good prevails and if we learn from our mistakes and live with compassion and love, we have found meaning in our life.

In previous issues of this magazine you have talked about the “power of thoughts”. Can you give me more information on this belief?

In Religious Science (Science of Mind) founder, Earnest Holmes, has combined the scientific theory of the law of attraction and applied it with his religious philosophy. Basically, it is a proven theory that what we focus on, we attract. Our mind is a powerful tool and if used in a greater and more positive capacity can produce an incredible life experience. Holmes stated “thoughts are things” and there is a universal law in place that knows only to respond to our thoughts. As we know the power of the mind to attract what we put our attention towards, encourages us to look at “what we are thinking”. Too often, as we become negative, doubtful or even full of fear, we tend to experience a very uncomfortable lifestyle. Conversely, as we feel peace-ful, joyous and positive with life, we experience a more uplifting lifestyle. Therefore, I suggest we retrain ourselves to think positively and through a higher consciousness, witness the good we attract, and live a more abundant life in all that we do. Ernest Holmes stated that, “Just as the law of gravity works, so does the law of attraction.”
