Tips on Keeping Mind and Body Young
By Jesse Anson Dawn

Jesse Anson Dawn (at age 63), author of the national award-winning book Never "Old," plus The Rejuvenator's Bible, speaks out about a most stirring subject: how to personally control the unwanted effects of "aging."

Presently answering the question: "How does an 'ageist society' affect our lives?"

Dear Readers, In regard to this question, it's noteworthy to recall that the movie "NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN" won the Academy Award for "Best Picture 2007." Apparently this movie's interesting title called attention to it, and helped it win recognition, and its title is what spurred me to rent it. But quickly I discovered this film to be so horribly violent that I ejected it from my video player before it was half-over. Although I do admit this movie has one redeeming quality: its TITLE calls attention to the significant fact that the U.S. practices more blatant ageism than anywhere on this planet.

The continually troublesome (but swept-under-the-rug) phenomenon of AMERICAN AGEISM (fueled by "cultural" obsessions with death and murder), is a dangerous plague that has sparked my ongoing movement against it.

But admittedly (in some cases), "ageist thinking" makes good sense, as in choosing the refreshing consciousness of Barack Obama over the worn-out brain of John McCain... McCain being dangerously misguided, NOT because of his age, but because of his wrong-headed leanings towards war and the disastrous Bush agenda.

But in most cases, ageism is just as erroneous as the violent wars of racism and fascism, for when these "isms" combine, people are abusively misjudged, not only as "racial enemies," but merely for being "too long alive."

Indeed, to misjudge people simply for how long they have lived is absurd and shallow, for one's age is a COMPLETELY INDIVIDUAL and PERSONAL thing, not to be wrongly perceived as a blanket generality. For regrettably, blanket generalities block-out all possibilities of self-renewal.

But as the dawning sun continues to rise again, shouldn't we acknowledge that its magnificence is best revealed by its CONTINUAL RE-EMERGENCE? But this magnificent re-emergence truly awakens us only IF we our awareness is keen enough to see and understand its message of continual renewal.

But in the W.A.S. (Western Ageist Society), a self-renewal-fearing, globally-alienated, dubious and negative world has taken over. And yet without the plagues of ageism and racism, we could stand on the threshold of a much more positive and joyful world, a world more tuned into the universe, more aligned with universal connections. It all depends on a massive change in the priorities of our "culture," whereby we cease postponing our rejuvenating, universal nature, and learn to love and LIVE it.

Verily, the universe is alight with life, but only in the minds of so-called "humanity" are there perpetual clouds of doubt, perpetual suffering and perpetual paralysis.

Woefully trapped by the paralyzing grips of ageism, the so-called "old" person is too often seen as unable to be truly loved. All of which begs us to ask the question:

What is REAL love and WHO deserves it?

First, we need to realize that "real love" mainly comes down to playing the play of life. IT plays you and you play IT, hopefully with enough kindness and caring to keep the human-to-human thing happening... not expecting too much flawlessness on this planet of flaws and wonders, for in true reality, love is what happens when it HAPPENS, even if it is just for a moment in time...

And the bliss of that moment, or decade (or eternity?) of love, also applies to loving life, and really loving your body and all its healing abilities. . .  remembering that when it comes to getting love from others, a central nuance is the fact that if you ALWAYS give, you will NEVER be unloved. For as prophets say, "Blessed is the hand that giveth". . .

And so I give myself both to people and to my writing, the creative research which I try to share with the world, trying to provide an alternative to all the ageist and racist publications. For as we have seen, ageist and racist publications go back as far (or even further) than the Bible, a book that, although eminently revered, is a text filled with cruelty, racism and murder. And so for that, and various other reasons, I've written my OWN self-renewing, murder-free Bible (much of which is revealed in these Never "Old" columns), a psychology and philosophy that I try to LIVE by, along with furthering its research and discoveries. . .

Again remembering that to purposely write something, is usually more thoughtful and perceived than simply voicing words into the air. . .  as I continue to offer readers  expositions that explore the realms of TRUE REJUVENATION and REBIRTH, remembering that REBIRTH and GIVING is central to HEALING and HAPPY HOLIDAYS. . .

Jesse is presently on a sabbatical in the Philippines, thereby not readily available for his Hawaii Island seminars. He can be communicated with in Asia (to answer any questions about true rejuvenation) by emailing him at
