By Jesse Anson Dawn
Tips on Keeping Mind and Body Young Jesse Anson Dawn, author of the national award-winning book, Never “Old”, plus The Rejuvenator’s Bible, speaks out about a most stirring subject: how to counteract the unwanted effects of “aging.”
Presently answering the question: “What can we do to counteract the ill and aging effects of the current U.S.-led war, alleviating its trauma on our mind-body?”
First a relevant quote from Buddha: “Believe nothing on the sole authority of your government, physicians or priests. After examination, believe what you yourself have tested and found to be reasonable, and conform your conduct thereto.”
— Gautama Buddha
Indeed true, for never before have so many people been so deceived by such massive amounts of misinformation from “higher ups” — be they established “healers” or “preachers” or the “government.” But even as telling the actual truth has now become something of a revolutionary act, real and helpful news still manages to sneak its way through, occasionally even via NBC/ABC/CBS/FOX/CNN Inc., rising up via such intelligent people as Oscar winner Michael Moore (who bravely announced his opposition to “Scourge” Bush at this year’s Academy Awards presentation). HELLO! — just as Moore proclaimed, fictitious misinformation has now been taken to the extreme, whereby we have so-called “Christian” presidents stealing elections and then bombarding us with their devil philosophies of war and absolute greed, prompting us to ask ourselves maddening questions such as: “Who would Jesus bomb?” or “Oh say can you cease this star-spangled bummer?”
Ug, can our mind-bodies successfully withstand two more ugly years of these babbling Bushitas? But wait a minute, maybe we need these obviously bad leaders in order for the mindful-body to wake up — rising up to take a rejuvenating, soul-altering stand for personal peace of mind.
Maybe, amid the mad tragedy of current events, more people will start to clear away their hazy, fantasy world gaga and realize that real leaders are beings of compassion, leaders who don’t ignore the fact that if “war is the answer” we’re asking the wrong questions — (noting here that the word “ignorance” comes from the word “ignore.”)
Making a little “jest for the health of it” about ignore(ance) and personal power, Irma Bombeck was known say: “Never go to a doctor whose office plants have died.” And I agree, for when a physician’s awareness is limited enough to ignore the fact that his potted pets are kaputsky, then perhaps his personal power is too weak to be an effective healer.
But whether it takes humor or seriousness to teach consciousness, so be it, for in this Age of Hype and Hurry-Hurry, surely true awareness is our best weapon against the greedy ravages of a world increasingly losing touch with its real and human self.
And it’s being in touch with the struggle of truth versus lies that has prompted me to derive a word/concept which seems to characterize much of the current obsession with distortion and falsity, a concept I call —
Oppothink is a play on the word opposite, for to think in an oppothink way is to be sold on programming which teaches people to fall prey to the opposite of the truth (especially when it comes to the environment and our bodies). But apparently oppothink invades every aspect of life-government, radio and television, big business versus nature, even the so-called “history” (a.k.a. his-story) taught in schools. For what is “history” anyway, but mostly a one-sided account of gruesome, genocidal wars tossed in with land theft and religious persecution — a hefty dose of YA-HOO! treachery followed by regular injections of assassinations and ill will.
And then, when his-story is coincided with the common misconception that “bodies” are that which break down so fast that by the time we’re 40 we’re “over the hill,” it’s no wonder that historical accounts are filled with a lack of respect for life. All of which leads us to the premise that oppothink is something that we true rejuvenators need to be aware of throughout every phase and dimension of our lives.
AS A PARENT
With the help of especially aware parenting, oppothink can be counteracted from childhood onward by teaching children the crucial difference between programmed myths and actual reality. This can be done in many ways, perhaps by giving youngsters some good, perceptive books to read, along with regular interaction with the perpetual truth of nature.
And if you are fortunate enough to find movies that are worth renting or going to see, you can render some control over a child’s intake by renting some good films, or taking them to the cinema, however you can pleasantly counteract the avalanche of bloody caca which in little more than a half-century has taken movies from silent films to the unspeakable. (But here again my taste leans toward that which is aware and real versus simple garbly-goo fantasy, for too much fantasy can render real truth obsolete). And just who established the idea that children (or adults, for that matter) need to indulge in constant fantasy instead of positive, educational movies about the nature of real life?
Okay, I admit that a little fantasy now and then can be entertaining and a relaxing break from the stark realism of stressful work, but if it reaches a point when the line between truth and fiction is so blurred that we can’t even tell the difference anymore, heads up and watch out for the ravages of—
Terminal oppothink usually occurs when people get so pressured by stress that they are forced to stop thinking for awhile, only to find they can’t start again. In other words, terminal oppothink happens when people stop thinking terminally, stop thinking FOR LIFE. Indeed, when full-blown oppothink takes over, many get pulled into a whirlwind existence something like hanging onto the rear bumper of a car, legs dragging and flapping in the wind instead of being up front and comfortably in control. But as for you, terminal oppothink should not be a problem, for if it was, you wouldn’t have made it so far into this article, and would’ve probably already tossed it aside, too hooked on the usual hyped-up hooey to handle a work so firmly intent on telling the straight- forward truth without apology.
Surely there’s a good reason why we’ve come this far together, probably because neither you nor I feels guilty or repressed about seeking out the best possible future for our brain/bodies — both of us kindred, co-explorers of inner space looking forward to —
THE MINDPOWER AGE
Hopefully, by aiming our thinking away from the programmed decadency of rampant excess and overkill, new levels of perception will be attained where new levels are most needed — taking us beyond the Overkill Machine designed to produce more war, more hazardous chemicals, more obscenely costly operations, more scalpeling away effects instead of uncovering causes.
But hopefully, as the Mind-power Age gradually takes over, most of these well established, Chemicals R’ Us and knife-wielding methods now called “medical” will fall away — gone like the obsolete practices of blood-letting and crucifixion. And the sooner the old, sadism-over-sense, profits-over-perception ways are overcome the better, for we’re long overdue for an end to the unconscious decadence that has made prisons and hospitals the fastest growing industries on the planet.
But for now, let me leave you with my latest song-poem about current events, whereby I can vent some steaming stress, freeing up my mindful body via some truthful song. I call this latest little diddy:
WAR IS OVER
LOOTERS IN SUITS, SELLING THE SPOILS OF OIL-
CORPORATE THUGS FROM MARS, PUSHING COMBAT SCENE STARS-
OH, THESE OIL-
JERKS FROM TEXAS, HOW THEY TRY TO VEX US-
DRAW LONE RANGERS, SPARKING WORLDWIDE DANGER-
MUCH WORSE THAN IRAQ’S HUSSEIN, DUBYA BUSH IS A PLANETARY PAIN-
SO WE AIR OUR CONSCIENCE, WITH SIGNS, SONGS AND MINDS— TELLING THE WORLD WE KNOW WHO THEY ARE-
THESE ELECTION-FRAUD VIPERS, THE MOST LETHAL BY FAR-
SO CROWDS FORM TO EVICT THEM, EMAILS CLOG THEIR MACHINES-
OUR WORDS TRY TO CONVICT THEM, FOR WE ARE HUMAN BEINGS-
AS THEY DO THEIR WORST, WE TRY TO DO OUR BEST-
TO STOP THEIR BOMB BURSTS, WE WIDEN OUR PROTESTS-
COME RALLY AND STRENGTHEN OUR ANTI-
COME HELP UNITE NATIONS WHO CAN’T GET ALONG-
STOP THE MALICE WE SAY, LIGHT THE CHALICE WE SAY— STOP BEING SO MECHANICALLY CALLOUS WE SAY— HEAR AND ANSWER OUR CALLS, FOR BABYLON MUST FALL-
CAN’T YOU SEE WE MUST BE FREE, TO STOP THEIR GREEDY WORLD WAR III-
SEE, BY CHANTING DOWN THE BEAST, WE DON’T DISTURB THEIR PEACE-
WE JUST DISTURB THEIR WAR, BY ASKING WHAT IT’S FOR-
YES, TO SPIRITUAL EVOLUTION, YES, TO PEACEFUL REVOLUTION-
YES, TO OUR PROMOTIONS, WHICH DANCE OUT OUR EMOTIONS-
YES, WE KNOW WHERE WE HAVE BEEN, AND YES, WE KNOW ONLY PEACE WILL WIN...
