FENG SHUI CONCEPTS
By Jenny Liu
A couple of years back, I did a birth chart for a lady named Helen in New York. At that time, her main concern was finding a partner in life. From her birth chart, her marriage sector did not occur until very late in her life. This means that it is not easy for her to get married as the strongest energy in her life is her career. Helen agrees that being a television director is demanding. However, she is in her late 30ís and would like to settle down soon. From her birth chart, it also shows in her property sector that she is likely to live in places with poor feng shui that can bring problems with relationships.
This year, she decides to have the feng shui consultation done on her apartment to see if her apartment is indeed contributing to her lack of a love life. Looking at her floorplan, it is quite clear that her feng shui does not bring positive relationships. Helenís birth element is earth and she is a Western Direction Pattern person which means that the northwest, west, northeast and southwest are most compatible with her. These are the directions she should ideally have her main door, bedroom and office situated in.
Instead, Helenís door is located in the south sector facing southwest. This year, the southwest is unstable and can bring accident, troublemakers or financial loss. When entering her apartment, the kitchen is to the immediate right. The right hand side as you enter a building is associated with the male energies. Having the kitchen here does not allow these energies to gather and relationships are sparse. However, the orientation of the kitchen stove does match Helen. The stove, representing our food, our basic means of survival or our income, is located in the southeast sector facing northwest. This is compatible with Helen, bringing her energies of wealth. Helen agrees that her salary and bonuses are stable.
Helenís master bedroom is located in the east corner which is associated to the wood element. The wood energies defeat her earth element energies. The east is also a masculine energy which can cause her to encounter males who take advantage of her or have conflicts with her. This year, the east direction is particularly weak and can be a source of stress and vulnerable digestion. Helen could not deny this is true. She does have prospective boyfriends, but they have always been hiding things and are not who they appear to be. She has been unknowingly involved with married men.
The west sector of her apartment, the direction associated with feminine metal energies and the perfect complement to her masculine earth energies, is missing. This factor alone can make it difficult for compatible relationships to enter into this home. This year, the west direction brings opportunities for love and travel. Having this sector missing lowers her potential for these energies to gather in her home.
Fortunately for Helen, the northwest is the living room where she has a large sofa bed. I recommended that she spend the majority of her time here as she will absorb promoting metal energies associated with the northwest. The northwest energies are related to positive masculine energies and leadership. If possible, she should sleep and meditate in her living room instead. This will enhance her ability to encounter more positive and compatible relationships.
Finally, her office is located in the north sector of her unit. Her desk is also situated so she does not have a solid wall behind her for support. The north direction is associated to the masculine water element which also weakens her earth element energies. Working here, she may encounter obstacles, male troublemakers, headache and lack of control in her work. Even though her money is stable, she has to work very hard and is constantly being challenged by the people she works with. I recommended for her to shift her desk into the northwest sector with a solid wall behind her so that she can be in a commanding position and gather positive energy.
A point in her favor is that from Helenís birth chart this year, she is aligned with energies that show the appearance of a touching romantic relationship. Making feng shui adjustments is a reinforcement that can only strengthen this desired outcome, especially for this year.
