Staying Healthy: It’s Important
How to?  That’s the Key!
By Deborah Watson

What do I need to know to stay healthy? What should I avoid to slow down the aging process? What should I do to increase longevity? And when should I do it to reach my goals? How can I change my negative thinking? How can I reach my potential? Especially, who do I turn to for the right answers?

Chances are if you are thinking about staying healthy, looking younger, increasing longevity, changing your lifestyle or your thinking, or you are on a spiritual path, you are definitely asking yourself these key questions. With all the information out there both fact and fiction, the medical findings, the statistical figures, the vast prescribing of medications by physicians, and all the precautions popping up in the media and being disseminated on the internet, it is a wonder people aren’t running around pulling their hair out crying “The sky is falling, the sky is falling”. It is a bit overwhelming and people are confused by the vast array of conflicting views.

From my perspective, I have “come a long way, baby” in my views about health and wellness, and most of what I have come to believe about my life and my body is that we have an innate wisdom that sends us information on a moment-to-moment basis. What we need now are the right tools to understand and take action with the information we are being sent. As far back as I can remember I have heard the mantra, “Don’t do this or don’t do that without first consulting your doctor.” Why?  They don’t know everything there is to know about everything.

Frankly, doctors are people with specialized training in treating sick people. They are not in the business of improving the health of “healthy people”. They are in the illness business. Whatever your health status is, if you are looking to learn more about health and wellness, what you need is a team of professionals that can educate you about various aspects of wellness so you can make informed decisions when it comes to your health and the health of your family. But where do you find such a gathering of experts? Recently, I left my store, Doc Watson’s Health Stuff, to pursue a career in radio, doing the Deborah “Doc” Watson show at HealthRadio.Net daily. But it got me thinking about the questions at the beginning of this article and many, many more — all related to wellness, anti-aging, longevity and the spiritual path I am on. What if we could assemble a team of health and spiritual professionals, ready to serve and inform you about life issues important to you?

Today in our hustle–bustle world we don’t seem to have time to attend classes or even to sit down one on one with someone and have them help us get on the right track to vibrant health and wellness of the body or spirit. So, what if we could get away from it all, have seminars about health and wellness; making that connection between mind, body and spirit; and having lots of fun in the bargain?
With the stress and, sometimes, overwhelming negative feelings we experience in our society, I was struck by the idea that if we could get away from it all, take a cruise to some exotic place and learn about a life program of self care it would be invaluable. Imagine what we could accomplish in that environment. We could learn how to care for ourselves and those around us.

We could get away from it all, cruise on the high seas, spend time with like-minded people, learn from experts about the importance of a healthy diet, exercise and good mental health, but more than that, learn how to implement an easy-to-follow program for vibrant health and wellness, understanding the connection of body, mind and spirit. I am ready to set sail and begin the next chapter of my life in the quest for optimal health and wellness.
