VOICES OF HOPE
By Audrey Hope
THE HOLOGRAM OF A TREE
I am a tree
and the tree is me.
And if I flee
away from the tree,
I lose me.
I long to be,
And live free
And all I need to see
Is the beauty of a tree.
Life can be reduced to a simple formula
The farther I move from nature,
The longer is my distance to God.
The more steps I take away from the sea,
The more chaos I could find in my soul.
Life can be reduced to a simple formula
NATURE IS THE ANSWER TO EVERYTHING!
And if I could be silent in the forest,
And understand myself in it,
I would not need to learn to respect the land.
I and others would not have to make a political issue
Of the environment or separate its value and my hands from the earth.
My love for the tree is my love for myself and all that is around me and
within. And if I could get back to it, live in it, bow in gratitude,
I could never pollute, abuse, hurt, dismiss me and the tree,
And the others who stand in the forest.
The farther I move from the tree,
The farther I move from me.
Because I am a tree,
And the tree is me.
