Join the Celebration!
By Warren Cook
The first annualConscious Living Fair has it all: exciting interactive activities, a wide variety of exhibitors, dynamic lectures, fascinating workshops, music, and dance. It all comes together April 21 and 22 at the Pasadena Convention Center.
The event is different from the typical expo. It is a true fair because it adds a large interactive component — attendees will be participants and not just spectators. For example, on the outdoor Plaza everyone is invited to come and play in the 100-piece drum circle, sponsored by Remo Drum Company. No prior musical experience necessary! Christine Stevens, well-known founder of UpBeat Drum Circles, will facilitate the twice-daily gatherings.
Also on the Plaza, fair visitors can have a go at “hooping”. Kandice Bishop, owner of Holistic Hooping, is bringing a few friends and dozens of hoops to the fair. Here she will encourage people to let go of their inhibitions and try hoops that are much easier to use than the typical hula-hoop. Visitors can also experience the meditative and healing power of walking a 36’ labyrinth. Interactive art workshops offer opportunities for personal expression and healing.
The biggest attraction of the fair is its 180 exhibitors who are coming tofrom across the nation. They are offering the latest in healthy living, earth-friendly, and holistic products and services. Strolling through the fair visitors can, for instance, sample organic foods and beverages, shop for jewelry, clothing, or yoga accessories, get a massage or have an astrological reading.
More than 60 lectures and workshop will follow the theme of “where spirituality and science meet”. Among featured speakers are: Barbara Marx Hubbard, famed futurist and president of the Foundation for Conscious Evolution; and Noah Levine, well-known Buddhist teacher, therapist and author of the best seller “Dharma Punx”.
What would a fair be without music and dancing? Our performances throughout the day include: popular jazz guitarist, Dirk K, inspirational guitarist, Mark Romero, and lively belly dancing troupes. Holistic Hooping will also perform their exciting “fire dance” with LED-lit hoops on a darkened stage.
