Mystic Gyfte Now Open in Vista
By Heidi Bonisa
To take a Tarot class on your lunch hour, or experience a meditation workshop, visit Mystic Gyfte, North County San Diego’s newest metaphysical haven, located in the redevelopment area of Historic downtown Vista at 210 S. Indiana Ave.
Owner, Tessa Sims, and manager, Angela O’Sullivan, intend to become the Nordstroms of gift stores with outstanding customer service, supplying all your magical and metaphysical needs. They offer books, music, greeting cards, crystals and semiprecious stones, incense and essential oils, Feng Shui supplies, Tarot cards, bath and spa items and much more.
Future plans include Tessa’s vision of a monthly social and networking meeting of like-minded people called The Gathering. In addition to sponsoring Psychic Fairs, they are developing and scheduling varied classes and workshops including Aura Photography, Herb and Essential Oil Classes, a 4-week Dream Analysis Class and an Angel Meditation Workshop. Their goal is to become a center of healing, spiritual growth and self empowerment.
Tessa, currently a successful business owner and entrepreneur in the North County area, explains why it is important for her to give back to her community. “In 1992, I found myself a single mother of two children and deeply grieving. I felt I had no direction or purpose, and that I was defined by others. I began searching for answers to my grieving process, and for direction and purpose for my life. I went to counselors, read the books etc., and while those were helpful, I found the support and strength I needed from individuals (in particular at healing centers), from readers, and literally from just hanging out. All these enabled me to grow and heal. I would not be successful today if not for their holding me up through that pain.
She went on to say “I want to create a haven where we can be there for others and be a light for them, a place where they can be open about their beliefs, feel safe and find new direction and purpose for their lives.”
Mystic Gyfte is open Monday-Saturday from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. and Sunday from 10
a.m.-5 p.m. Phone (760) 643-2120. Website
