Do You Know Your Spirit Guides?
By Dr. Scott Peck and Shannon Peck

Your life is being guided by Spirit Guides right now. But here’s the surprise. They look like normal people.

So how do you know when someone is one of your Spirit Guides?

You know by how you feel in their presence — and after they have been with you. You feel empowered, uplifted, honored, and embraced. You feel more in touch with your own worth. You feel more clarity about who you are. You feel loved. You feel new windows of possibilities opening in your heart and mind. Your heart is encouraged, even smiling. You feel more trust in yourself and your own inner guidance. You feel open. Your life energy rises.

So think for a moment. Who in your life right now has such an effect on you?  It may be a friend. It may be a co-worker. It may even be a stranger you met yesterday. It may be an author speaking to your soul from a book or tape.

It is of great significance to become aware of our Spirit Guides. Once we realize the power of being in the presence of a Spirit Guide, we learn to seek out these opportunities with more gratitude, more frequency, and more appreciation for what lifts our lives into higher space.

Now, let’s turn the table a bit and see from another point of view. You, yourself, also have the choice of being a Spirit Guide to others. Perhaps you are one right now. Let’s find out. Assess your life for a moment. Who in your presence feels uplifted, honored, embraced, unjudged, loved, more open to possibilities, and more confident in themselves just as a result of being with you?

Even to ask such a question enables us to reconsider the higher possibilities of our lives. Seeing yourself as a potential Spirit Guide opens many new doors. For example, rather than thinking of yourself as someone’s spouse or love mate, what would shift if you began to also define yourself as that person’s Spirit Guide? In fact, what would shift if you saw that other person as your Spirit Guide too?  If you are a parent, what a relief to back off all that comes with that role and see yourself as a Spirit Guide — and your child as a Spirit Guide to you.

The most wonderful life imaginable is to be aware of the Spirit Guides around you, acknowledge them, bask in their presence of love and inspiration, and provide this environment of light for others as a Spirit Guide yourself.

So what would stop you from seeing your Spirit Guides?

Oh it is easy to be blind to your Spirit Guides. For example, who are you taking for granted that is blessing your life just because they seem so ordinary and so routinely present?  Imagine what would happen if you recognized them as a Spirit Guide. Imagine how much more you could learn and evolve by asking better questions and listening at a higher plane. And how many people have we all labeled in ways that utterly destroy any capacity to see them as Spirit Guides — simply because they are different than we are. Do you really want to remain the same as you are today for the rest of eternity?

And what would stop your from being a Spirit Guide yourself?

If you can love, you already have the heart of a Spirit Guide. Now it’s about enlarging that love, letting go of judging, controlling, and even giving advice. These are the top disablers of potential Spirit Guides. Practice listening to some-one’s heart with absolutely no judgment and absolutely no advice — just your smiling eyes and open, flowing heart.

This will give you a taste of being a Spirit Guide. Observe how the other person begins to open in your environment of honoring and silence. Observe how much strength flows into the other per-son’s well-being. They are feeling the effects of being with a Spirit Guide. It doesn’t matter if they know what is happening — or how it is happening. Your role is simply to be a Spirit Guide.

When you finish reading this article, allow yourself the joy of looking out on the world today as a Spirit Guide — and being one. Give yourself the gift of looking around your life to identify your own Spirit Guides — and then get closer to them. Notice how your life energy rises. Welcome to the heart of Love!
